Publisher and Chairman, Board of Directors of The Sun Publishing Limited, Neya Kalu, was among prominent figures who attended the just-concluded 8th National Convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), held at the Eagle Square.
The convention, which drew top political leaders from across the country, was led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and attended by key party stakeholders including former national chairman Bisi Akande, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, alongside governors and other dignitaries.
A major highlight of the convention was the adoption of a widely accepted consensus process, which led to the re-election of Nentawe Yilwatda as National Chairman, alongside other members of the party’s National Executive Committee. Surajudeen Basiru also emerged as National Secretary, with the National Working Committee (NWC) constituted through consensus and ratified by delegates.
Kalu, a lawyer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and founder of Basecoat Nail Salon Chain, attended the event in a bright-coloured Ankara outfit and was seated in the VVIP section alongside the President, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abass and other top-ranking officials.
Speaking in a brief chat with Daily Sun, Kalu commended the APC leadership and delegates for what she described as a strong demonstration of unity and political maturity.
“I commend the APC for the peaceful and widely accepted consensus process that led to the re-election of Nentawe Yilwatda as National Chairman, alongside other members of the party’s National Executive Committee, as well as the orderly and exemplary conduct of all state delegates at the national convention,” she said.
The media executive, who is the daughter of former Abia State Governor and current Abia North Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, noted that the convention reflects the party’s commitment to internal democracy and cohesion.
Also speaking at the event, Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, described ongoing reforms under the APC-led administration as foundational steps toward economic stability and growth.
“Through difficult but necessary reforms, he has demonstrated vision, resolve, and uncommon foresight. Today, the foundation for a more stable, productive, and prosperous economy is being firmly laid,” Uzodimma said.
He added that the direction of governance is becoming clearer, with stronger reform logic and brighter prospects for long-term national development.
The APC National Convention, widely regarded as orderly and cohesive, reinforced the party’s internal structures and strategic outlook ahead of future political engagements.
