Igbo Community London President Urges Youths to Uphold Discipline, Culture, and Unity

The President of Igbo Community London (ICL), Chief Valentine Chukwuemeka Akudinobi, has issued a strong advisory message to Igbo youths residing in London, calling on them to remain law-abiding, focused, and committed to preserving their cultural heritage.

In a statement released from his office, Akudinobi addressed the youths as both a leader and a father figure, emphasizing their critical role in shaping the future and reputation of the Igbo community in the diaspora. He described them as the “strength, pride, and future” of Ndi Igbo, noting that their actions today will determine not only their personal success but also the collective image of the community.

The ICL president urged young people to respect the laws of their host country and maintain exemplary conduct at all times. According to him, character and discipline remain essential virtues for success in any society.

He also encouraged the youths to prioritize education and skill acquisition, whether through formal academics, business ventures, or vocational training. He stressed that self-reliance and excellence are key to long-term growth and stability.

Highlighting the importance of cultural identity, Akudinobi advised Igbo youths not to lose touch with their roots. He called on them to speak the Igbo language, honour traditional values, and uphold principles such as hard work, respect, and integrity.

The community leader further warned against negative influences, including crime and drug abuse, noting that a single wrong decision could derail years of effort and progress.

On unity, he emphasized the need for active participation in community affairs, reminding the youths that collective strength remains vital for advancement. “Together, we are stronger — Igwe bu ike,” he stated.

Akudinobi also used the opportunity to invite youths to engage more actively with the community, announcing the next meeting of the organization scheduled for April 18, 2026. He encouraged them to attend, share ideas, and build meaningful connections within the Igbo community in London.

Reaffirming the Igbo philosophy of brotherhood, he concluded with the message, “Onye aghala nwanne ya,” urging unity, mutual support, and a shared commitment to a brighter future.

The advisory underscores the continued efforts of the Igbo Community London to guide and empower young people in the diaspora while preserving the rich cultural heritage of Ndi Igbo.
