Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire has publicly accused her estranged husband, actor Fredrick Leonard, of frustrating their ongoing divorce proceedings while also alleging that he was involved in a long-term affair with a married woman.
The actress made the claims in a lengthy post shared on her verified Instagram page, where she expressed frustration over what she described as Leonard’s failure to appear in court despite allegedly initiating the divorce process.
According to Ovire, Leonard requested a divorce but has repeatedly failed to personally appear in court after being served with legal documents. She specifically urged him not to miss a scheduled customary court hearing on June 23, stating that she intends to present evidence relating to her allegations.
“You said you wanted a divorce, yet you didn’t show up when you were served. Please don’t avoid customary court for the second time on June 23 because I’m coming with receipts and let’s make this divorce done and dusted, so both of you can finally be together,” she wrote.
In the post, Ovire alleged that before and during their marriage, Leonard maintained a romantic relationship with a married woman who has four children. She claimed that when she initially confronted him about the woman, he denied any inappropriate relationship and insisted they were merely friends.
The actress further alleged that she later obtained evidence suggesting the two were involved in an affair and frequently met in private locations, including hotels and Leonard’s apartment.
She also claimed that the woman attended their wedding and that she had no reason to suspect any wrongdoing at the time because she believed the relationship between the pair was platonic.
According to Ovire, tensions in her marriage increased after she discovered what she described as evidence of the alleged affair. She accused Leonard of comparing her to the other woman and maintaining close contact with her even after their marriage.
In one of the most pointed sections of her statement, Ovire questioned what she described as hypocrisy on Leonard’s part, alleging that he publicly criticized women involved with married men while privately engaging in a relationship with a married woman.
The actress concluded by accusing Leonard of refusing to appear in court after becoming aware of the details contained in her divorce petition, claiming that he instead sent legal representation.
As of the time of filing this report, Fredrick Leonard had not publicly responded to the latest allegations made by his estranged wife.
The public dispute marks the latest development in the breakdown of the couple’s marriage, which has attracted significant attention from fans and followers within the Nigerian entertainment industry.
