Prominent businessman and philanthropist, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has paid a heartfelt tribute to late Nollywood actor Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke, popularly known as Chief Ikuku, describing him as a brother, friend, and source of joy whose passing left an irreplaceable void.
In a moving Father’s Day message released on Sunday, Anyaso reflected on his relationship with the late actor, recalling their shared heritage, deep conversations, and the warmth that characterized every encounter they had.
According to him, Alexx Ekubo was much more than a friend, noting that the actor consistently showed him love, respect, and affection throughout their relationship.
“Every encounter with him was filled with warmth, laughter, and sincerity,” Anyaso stated.

The philanthropist also revealed a personal regret that has continued to weigh heavily on him since the actor’s passing. He disclosed that a few weeks before Ekubo’s death, he had contacted the actor’s close friend, actor IK Ogbonna, to inquire about his wellbeing.
“I was assured that he was doing well, and I promised myself that I would call and check on him personally. Sadly, I never made that call. It is a regret I will carry for a long time,” he lamented.
Despite the pain of the loss, Anyaso said he has found comfort in his faith and trust in God’s divine will, adding that human beings must ultimately submit to the sovereignty of God.
Explaining why he chose Father’s Day to celebrate the late actor despite the fact that he had no biological children, Anyaso said fatherhood extends beyond biological ties and should also be measured by the impact one has on the lives of others.
He described Ekubo as a father figure in many respects, citing his generosity, selflessness, and ability to bring happiness to those around him.
“Alex was a father figure in many ways. He had a rare gift of making people smile. He was generous with his time, selfless in his actions, and always willing to help others,” he said.

Anyaso further noted that the late actor left behind countless cherished memories and touched numerous lives through his kindness and compassion.
While mourning his absence, he expressed confidence that Ekubo’s strong faith in God provides comfort to family, friends, and admirers who continue to grieve his loss.
“What comforts me most is knowing that Alex loved God. Therefore, while we mourn his absence, we take solace in the belief that he is resting peacefully in the bosom of the Almighty,” he stated.
Concluding the tribute, Anyaso thanked the late actor for the friendship, laughter, respect, and love they shared, assuring that his memory would continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
“Rest on, Chief Ikuku. Rest on, Alex. Until we meet again,” he wrote.
The emotional tribute has resonated with many fans and admirers of the late Nollywood star, serving as a reminder of the enduring impact he made on the lives of friends, colleagues, and loved ones.
