The traditional ruler of Igbere, His Royal Majesty, Eze Joseph Ukaoha Anyanta, Enyi Ezeji of Ibinaukwu Igbere, has expressed support for the re-election of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu.
The monarch made his position known on Wednesday when Kalu visited the traditional ruler as part of his ongoing consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the engagement, Eze Anyanta said the people of Igbere, Bende Federal Constituency had witnessed a difference in Kalu’s representation since he assumed office, compared with previous representatives.
“Since 1999, your representation is different from others who have represented us,” the traditional ruler said.
He commended Kalu for what he described as the visible impact of his representation, stressing that the projects he attracted to the constituency were not merely projects existing on billboards.
“Your projects are visible to all of us, not billboard projects, and we say thank you, and pray that God guide your activities so that you will do more,” he said.
The monarch further praised the Deputy Speaker for demonstrating capacity and attracting several projects to Bende Federal Constituency since he began representing the constituency in the House of Representatives.
He assured Kalu of the support of the people, declaring that they would do everything within their power to ensure his return to the National Assembly.
“We will do everything to make sure you go back again,” Eze Anyanta told the Deputy Speaker.
AbaCityBloq reports that Kalu’s visit to Igbere formed part of his consultations with traditional rulers and other stakeholders in preparation for the 2027 elections.
The Deputy Speaker, who was accompanied by members of his entourage, was warmly received by the traditional ruler and other stakeholders from Bende.
