Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has congratulated Governor Alex Otti and the people of the state on the 35th anniversary of the creation of Abia State.
Kalu described the anniversary as a significant milestone and an opportunity for Abians to celebrate the state’s journey, reflect on achievements recorded over the years and renew their collective commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous and united Abia.
In a statement he personally signed on Wednesday, commemorating the anniversary, Kalu, who governed the state from 1999 to 2007, said he remained proud of the resilience, enterprise and determination of the people of Abia State.
He noted that the progress recorded by the state over the past 35 years was the product of contributions from successive administrations, traditional institutions, civil servants, professionals, business people, workers, youths, women and other citizens who continued to believe in the promise and potential of the state.
“I warmly felicitate Governor Alex Otti, the Government and People of Abia State on the auspicious occasion of the 35th anniversary of the creation of our state, which we proudly call ‘God’s Own State.’
“I am extremely happy because 35 years is a significant milestone in the life of any state. It is a moment to celebrate the remarkable journey of our people, reflect on the achievements recorded over the years, acknowledge the challenges encountered and renew our collective commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous and united state.
“As a former Governor of the State, I am particularly proud of the resilience, enterprise and determination of our people. I am proud of the progress made over the past 35 years, knowing that it is a product of the contributions of successive administrations, traditional institutions, civil servants, professionals, business people, workers, youths, women and, indeed, every citizen who has continued to believe in the promise and potential of our dear State,” Kalu said.
Looking ahead, the former governor urged stakeholders and residents to remain committed to the advancement of the state, stressing the importance of good governance, sustainable development, peace, unity and economic prosperity.
“This anniversary provides an opportunity to look ahead with renewed hope and determination, with a commitment to ensure that the next chapter of the State’s history is defined by good governance, sustainable development, peace, unity, economic prosperity and improved opportunities for our people.
“I therefore congratulate the Government and People of our state on this historic occasion and urge all citizens and residents to continue to work together in the spirit of unity and patriotism.
