Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has urged leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) accompanying President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his re-election campaign to return to their respective states and mobilise voters at the grassroots.
Kalu, who represents Abia North in the Senate and is a former governor of Abia State, made the call while reacting to the APC’s presidential campaign rally in Kaduna, which he praised for its organisation.
According to the senator, party leaders would contribute more to the campaign by strengthening local party structures and engaging voters in their communities rather than following the President from one rally to another.
“I want people who are following him around in the campaign train to go back to their states. Let’s work for our party at the local level, and that is where we’ll harvest a lot of votes for the benefit of APC,” Kalu said.
He also expressed support for Tinubu’s economic reform agenda, arguing that the administration had made progress in macroeconomic management but needed to do more to improve living conditions across the country.

Kalu identified insecurity as a major obstacle to economic growth, particularly in agriculture, noting that farmers in some parts of Nigeria remained unable to access their farmlands safely.
He said another four-year term would give Tinubu more time to consolidate his reforms and translate them into tangible benefits for Nigerians.
“Reforms are not easy. It’s difficult to do reforms. The time we have taken to do this reform, we should give it the fullest time to grow and manifest into prosperity,” he said.
The former governor also called for stronger manufacturing and productive sectors, stressing that economic growth should be felt by ordinary Nigerians and the middle class.
Despite expressing confidence in the administration’s economic direction, Kalu acknowledged that insecurity, food affordability and the rising cost of living remained major challenges requiring attention.
Tinubu launched the APC’s re-election campaign in Kaduna on October 24, 2026, as the ruling party began its mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The administration’s economic policies, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and changes to the foreign exchange system, are expected to remain important issues in the run-up to the election.
