Ahead of the 2027 general elections, women across Bende Local Government Area demonstrated strong grassroots solidarity as the family of Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso (Ofuji) hosted a strategic gathering of women leaders and stakeholders drawn from across Bende Federal Constituency.
The special hosting, organized by his elder sister, Barr. Dr. Ngozi Ekeoma, alongside his wife, Dr. Adanna Anyaso, provided a platform for engagement, unity, and mobilization of women towards building a stronger political future for Bende.
Speaking during the event, the Wife of the Mayor of Bende LGA, Mrs. Geraldine Uwabunkonye Bassy, called on women to unite and support Dr. Anyaso, describing him as a compassionate and visionary leader capable of attracting development and effective representation to the constituency.
The Labour Party Women Leader of Bende LGA, Mrs. Grace Ogbonna, emphasized the decisive role women play in electoral victories and urged massive grassroots mobilization in support of Dr. Anyaso’s aspiration to represent Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
In her keynote address, the Deputy Mayor of Bende LGA, Chief Mrs. Ngozi Anya, noted that the 2027 political cycle presents a historic opportunity for Bende North (Umunna) to produce the next federal lawmaker, stressing that Dr. Anyaso enjoys growing acceptance across communities.
Women leaders including Mrs. Nkechinyere Gift Dick (Onugu Women Leader), Mrs. Okorie Stella Ezinne (Abia Arise Women Leader), Mrs. Cordelia Chukwu (ASMATA Women Leader), and Mrs. Arisa Okparigbo (Women Leader, Chima Anyaso Foundation) reaffirmed total support for Dr. Anyaso’s House of Representatives ambition and also endorsed the re-election of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, in 2027.
Responding, Dr. Anyaso expressed heartfelt appreciation to the organizers and women of Bende Federal Constituency for their overwhelming solidarity and confidence in his leadership. He assured them of inclusive representation, empowerment programmes, and people-centered legislation if elected.
Highlights of the event included special prayers offered for Dr. Anyaso, distribution of bags of rice and wrappers, and cash support totaling ₦5 million provided to assist women across the constituency.
Dignitaries present included the Board of Trustees Chairman of the Chima Anyaso Foundation, Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha; former Chairman of Bende LGA, Pastor Okechukwu Dike; alongside other political leaders and stakeholders.
The gathering reflects the growing grassroots momentum and collective determination of Bende women to shape the political future of the constituency ahead of 2027.
