The Akwa Ibom State Police command has reacted to a viral video alleging kidnappers attacked a school in Oron, Akwa Ibom State.
A viral video shared on social media had claimed the kidnappers (bandits) stormed the school and kidnapped four students.
“Oron dey hot, bandits in Oron, they kidnapped four students,” a man said while recording the school.

Another video showed police van around the school while parents stormed the school to take their kids home.
An unconfirmed report said some students who ran away from the school over a punishment started screaming as they were running, shouting kidnappers; the screaming attracted the public and it went viral as parents stormed the school in fear as they took their kids home.

The Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Information in a statement released on Friday urged the public to disregard the report.
“There is no incident of abduction, no attack on any school, and no threat to students or teachers in the area.
“We urge the public to disregard these fake reports and avoid sharing unverified information that may cause panic,” the information ministry said in a statement.
Also, reacting to the viral video, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command dismissed the viral social media reports, describing it as false alarm.
In a public notice released on Thursday, the Command stated that no abduction has taken place in any school in the area. It added that there has been no attack and no threat to the safety of students or teachers.
The police urged residents to ignore the false reports and refrain from circulating unverified information that could cause fear and panic.
According to the statement, Akwa Ibom remains safe, and security operatives are fully present across the state to maintain peace and order.
