Senator Nkechi Nwaogu PhD CON, a respected legislative leader, devoted Christian, trusted financial authority, successful entrepreneur, accomplished achiever, and veteran politician, marks another year of life today.

Our Ihie Abia is a renowned figure who has profoundly impacted the social challenges confronting humanity, and her achievements are being commemorated today, a fitting tribute to her dedication.

Her benevolence spirit and altruistic nature are hallmarks of her extraordinary character, defining her leadership and timeless legacy. Ugonwanyi Ndi Igbo has attained distinction in all aspects of her life.

In legislative matters, she displays outstanding ability, adopts a practical approach in administrative roles, and delivers impactful human capital development initiatives focused on employment and empowerment. Her educational expertise is notable, and golfing skills impressive. A prominent figure in Abia State politics, known affectionately as Mama APC, she also dedicates herself to church activities as a Guild of steward member for eight years, exemplifying humility.

A reputable banker served as the first branch manager at Diamond Bank Aba Branch.

Dedicated to serving her community, the financial expert won the House of Representatives Seat of Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency in 2003, leveraging her passion for public service.

She emerged victorious in the 2007 senatorial election, representing Abia Central in the Senate, and subsequently served as chair of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions.

As a result of her remarkable representation, she was re-elected by her constituents in 2011 and held the position of chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas Resources

Nwaogu was appointed as Pro Chancellor and Chairperson of the University of Calabar’s Governing Board, playing a pivotal role in breaking a 45-year jinx by ensuring the institution’s first female Vice Chancellor and facilitating employment opportunities for over 200 individuals.

Senator Nkechi Nwaogu was a dedicated and devoted stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and today she is a committed member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

A committed and devoted Anglican, Ugonwanyi ndi Igbo, is blessed with three children and a multitude of grandchildren.
