The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has congratulated the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, on his 61st birthday, praising his leadership style and commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
Kalu, in a congratulatory message issued on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, described Abbas as an exemplary leader and nation-builder whose approach to legislative administration has contributed to stability and cooperation in the 10th House of Representatives.
The Deputy Speaker commended the Speaker for his calm disposition, humility, wisdom and commitment to institutional development, noting that these qualities had helped promote an atmosphere of collaboration among members of the House.
According to Kalu, effective governance requires cooperation, inclusivity, accountability and a sustained commitment to the interests of Nigerians.
He also praised Abbas for providing leadership in advancing legislative reforms, strengthening democratic institutions and supporting initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.
Kalu further acknowledged the Speaker’s efforts to foster unity among lawmakers, describing his leadership approach as an example of maturity, patriotism and dedication to national service.

“Under your leadership, the House has enjoyed an atmosphere of stability, cooperation and productivity. Your ability to build bridges, foster consensus and inspire confidence among members has contributed immensely to the progress recorded by the 10th Assembly,” he said.
Kalu prayed for continued good health, wisdom and fulfilment for Abbas, expressing hope that the Speaker would enjoy many more years of impactful service to Nigeria as he leads the House in carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.
