The Amaokwe Item Welfare Union (AIWU) Women’s Wing has honoured Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, CDA, OFUJI Ndi Igbo, with a Distinguished Award of Recognition and recognition as “Ezienyi Amaokwe Item” for his contributions to the people of Abia State and his commitment to the development of Amaokwe Item in Bende Local Government Area.
The award was presented on Saturday, August 15, 2026, by the women’s wing of the union, which described the honour as a recognition of Anyaso’s contributions, empowerment initiatives and commitment to his family and community.
The award plaque, signed by the National President, Lady Mercy Kesandu Uko, and the National Secretary, Odoziaku Onyinyechi Comfort, on behalf of the Amaokwe Item Welfare Union Women’s Wing, acknowledged his contributions and empowerment efforts towards the people of Abia State, as well as his commitment to the development of Amaokwe Item.

The organisers congratulated Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso on the recognition, noting that the honour represents an appreciation of his contributions and the impact of his interventions within the community and beyond.
Reacting to the honour, the Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chimaobi Anyaso, expressed appreciation to the women of Item for the recognition and honour bestowed on him.

Anyaso also called on the women to continue supporting the administration of Governor Dr. Alex Otti, while urging them to prepare to support what he described as “their own” in the 2027 election for Bende Federal Constituency.

He described the recognition as a demonstration of the confidence and goodwill of the people, promising to remain committed to initiatives that promote community development, empowerment and the wellbeing of the people.
