Residents of Bende Federal Constituency have commended the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, for what they described as impactful representation, citing the reconstruction of the Ozuitem–Uzuakoli road as one of the projects that has transformed the area.
Speaking on behalf of residents, Mr. Okafor said the road project has brought significant relief to communities in Bende South, noting that the area had experienced little infrastructural development since the return to democratic rule in 1999.
According to him, previous representatives, including former House of Representatives member Nnenna Ukeje, did not deliver a project of such magnitude to the area.
He recalled that before Benjamin Kalu assumed office, the Ozuitem–Uzuakoli road was in a deplorable condition and had become virtually impassable, making transportation difficult for residents.
“Today, the story has changed. The reconstructed road has eased movement and enabled farmers to transport their produce to markets with less difficulty, boosting economic activities in our communities,” he said.

Also speaking, a traditional ruler, HRH Eze Ifeanyi, praised the Deputy Speaker for bringing sustained development to the constituency.
He said Kalu had continued to execute projects that directly impact the lives of the people, adding that the community would reciprocate the gesture with its support during the 2027 general elections.
Similarly, another resident, Mr. John, described Kalu as the most impactful leader he had witnessed in his lifetime.
According to him, the Deputy Speaker’s achievements in communities such as Ugwueke stand out despite spending less than a decade in the House of Representatives.
Residents maintained that the road project has improved connectivity, enhanced access to markets, and contributed to the socio-economic development of communities within the constituency.
