Bright Chimezie’s Son Reveals Why His Father Signed With Sony Music

Chukwudi Chimezie, lawyer and the son of the legendary highlife musician, Bright Chimezie has celebrated his father’s latest deal with Sony Music Publishing.

The musician was pictured signing a publishing deal with Sony Music, an event which was attributed to his recent closeness to Nigerian International Afrobeat star, Davido.

Recall that Davido who is signed under Sunny Music Publishing had acknowledged that his latest song ‘With you’ featuring Omah Lay, a track from the 5ive album was an inspiration he got from Bright Chimezie’s iconic song, ‘Because of English‘. To make his acknowledgement worth it, Davido hosted Bright Chimezie at his home in Lagos.

While the acknowledgement lasted, the legendary highlife musician was announced to have signed a deal with Sony Music Publishing, an international brand known for managing established artists.

Speaking on the success of the deal, Chukwudi, via his official X account said he was glad to have advised his father , Bright Chimezie to go ahead with the deal.

He said: “Proud to have advised my father, the legendary Bright Chimezie, on his publishing deal with the world’s No. 1 music publisher, Sony Music Publishing.”

“Having advised numerous clients on complex transactions, this one hits differently, it’s personal.

“Bright Chimezie isn’t just my father; he’s a cultural icon whose music has shaped generations,” the legal practitioner wrote on X.

Eulogizing his father’s music, Chukwudi said Bright Chimezie truly deserved the deal.

“His music, and philosophy is deserving of global protection and recognition.”

According to him, “This publishing deal is a major step in preserving the heritage of Zigima Sound and ensuring that his cultural contributions take their rightful place on the global stage.”
