Abia Arise gained momentum on Monday as the former Mayor of Ukwa West Local Government Council, Mr. Newman Azu, hosted the monthly meeting of the organisation’s Ukwa West chapter at his country home in Ogwe, Asa.
Welcoming the over 500 members of the organisation, Azu, who expressed joy over the impressive turnout of members, urged them to take full ownership of Abia Arise in Ukwa West. He encouraged them to expand its membership base and sustain the growing enthusiasm across the local government area
He called on the Ukwa West Abia Arise leadership to embrace collective responsibility as a way of stimulating cooperation among members, adding that there was need for them to keep encouraging the members to sustain their commitment and zeal in the organisation.
The former Mayor also appealed to the political office holders from Ukwa West in Governor Otti’s administration to demonstrate greater commitment and support to the chapter.

Speaking at the occasion, the Ukwa West Coordinator of Abia Arise, Hon. Ndukauba Adiele, thanked all the members for their support, stressing that he was determined to run an all-inclusive administration. He expressed appreciation for the support the organisation has been receiving from different stakeholders.
In his remarks, the General Manager of Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, (ASOPADEC), Ven Dr. Joshua Onyeike, pointed out that any political activity that was not geared towards the development of the people was fraudulent and reaffirmed the commitment of ASOPADEC to the development of Ukwa West, and other parts of Abia State.
Former candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA), for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections, Engr. Adinigwe Ugochukwu Nwoke, while speaking, emphasised the need for a unity of purpose among members who, he admonished to bury whatever differences they have and work harmoniously for the collective progress of Ukwa West.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Ukwa West Labour Party, (LP), Apostle I O. Dike commended the commitment of members of Ukwa West Abia Arise, which according to him manifested in their attendance.
He emphasised the need for members to encourage people to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise, stressing that it was the sure way of showing support for Dr. Alex Otti during the 2027 election.
