The President of the Igbo Community London (ICL), Chief Valentine Chukwuemeka-Akudinobi, has extended a heartfelt goodwill message to Igbo residents in London as the new month begins, urging unity, resilience, and cultural pride among members of the diaspora.

In his message, Chief Akudinobi warmly greeted “Ndi Igbo ibem” across the city, expressing deep gratitude and joy while reaffirming his role not just as a leader, but as a brother committed to the wellbeing of every Igbo son and daughter living in London.

He described the start of a new month as a vital opportunity for reflection and renewal, encouraging the community to recommit to core Igbo values such as hard work (Igba mbo), resilience, and brotherly love, famously captured in the phrase “Onye aghala nwanne ya.”

Highlighting what he termed the community’s “collective vision,” the ICL President called on members to strengthen unity, noting that the power of the Igbo diaspora lies in shared purpose and togetherness — “Ofu Obi.”

He also emphasized the importance of preserving Igbo heritage, urging families to actively pass down language, customs, and traditions to younger generations, even while living abroad. According to him, maintaining cultural identity remains key to sustaining the Igbo legacy globally.

In addition, Chief Akudinobi encouraged community members to support one another, particularly in the fast-paced environment of London, where individuals can easily feel isolated. He stressed that a strong, supportive network would ensure that no member of the community is left behind.

The message concluded with prayers and well-wishes for good health, peace, joy, and success in the new month, as well as a call for the enduring Igbo spirit to shine in all aspects of life.

The Igbo Community London continues to play a significant role in fostering unity, cultural preservation, and mutual support among Igbos living in the United Kingdom, guided by its enduring motto, “Ofu Obi” — one heart, one people.
