A prominent political figure in Abia State, Mascot Uzor Kalu, has publicly called for reconciliation and peace between Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, following growing concerns over a perceived rift between the two leaders.
In a statement released on Tuesday morning, Mascot Kalu emphasized the need to de-escalate tensions and restore unity, urging both parties and their supporters to “sheathe their swords” and embrace dialogue over division.
He described the situation as one that requires maturity and a commitment to long-standing relationships, noting that political disagreements should not override personal and familial bonds.
“A lot has been said about the relationship between my brother and my friend,” Mascot Kalu stated, referring to Senator Orji Kalu and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu. “I urge both sides to toe the path of peace.”
Taking a proactive step toward reconciliation, Mascot Kalu disclosed plans to engage key stakeholders and traditional leaders within Bende Local Government Area. According to him, the initiative is aimed at facilitating a peaceful resolution by bringing both leaders together in a spirit of unity.
“The idea is to take Benjamin to his leader, who is also our leader, to make peace,” he added, underscoring the importance of respect and hierarchy in resolving the matter.

“After politics, there is still family, and there are still relationships. This is the path I want us to follow,” he said. “Stop all the bickering, insults, and hostility. Let us move forward and embrace peace at this time.”
