Ohafia APC Stakeholders Back Orji Uzor Kalu, Reaffirm Loyalty to Tinubu Ahead of 2027

Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ohafia Local Government Area have reaffirmed their confidence in Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, praising him for what they described as visionary representation and impactful contributions to the development of Abia North Senatorial District.

The stakeholders, who met on Friday, 29th August 2025, at Ikenga Plaza Hotel, Ebem Ohafia, declared their unwavering support for the former Abia State Governor, passing a unanimous vote of confidence in him alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu.

In their communiqué, the APC leaders highlighted Senator Kalu’s track record of quality representation, stressing that his efforts in infrastructure, education, empowerment, and agriculture have directly improved the lives of the people of Ohafia and Abia North.

“These interventions have had direct and lasting impacts on the socio-economic well-being of our people. We therefore urge Senator Kalu to sustain his developmental strides and continue prioritizing the welfare of our communities,” the communiqué stated.

The stakeholders catalogued some of Senator Kalu’s notable interventions across Ohafia communities, including;

Construction and rehabilitation of strategic roads linking rural and urban centers.

Building of new classroom blocks and the renovation of dilapidated school facilities.

Installation of solar-powered streetlights across Abiriba, Nkporo, and Ohafia clans.

Youth empowerment initiatives, particularly in vocational training and entrepreneurship.

Support schemes for indigent women to promote economic self-reliance.

Backing for farmers and agricultural development through equipment and financial support.

The communiqué stressed that these projects are not symbolic but “life-changing interventions that have restored confidence in the people about what effective representation should be.”

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s influence in Nigerian politics predates his current senatorial role. As a two-term governor of Abia State (1999–2007), he is widely credited with laying the foundation for modern Abia through road infrastructure, industrial projects, and grassroots empowerment.

At the national level, Kalu served as Chief Whip of the 9th Senate, a position that gave him significant influence in legislative affairs and further entrenched his reputation as one of the most experienced voices from the South-East.

He has also become a visible ally of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, openly supporting his economic reforms and rallying the South-East to give the APC stronger electoral footing.

The Ohafia APC stakeholders acknowledged this role, noting that Kalu’s presence in the Senate has ensured that Abia North remains a focal point in national politics.

2027 Outlook: Unshaken Loyalty

With the 2027 general elections on the horizon, the leaders pledged overwhelming support for Senator Kalu and President Tinubu, declaring that both men had earned the trust and loyalty of APC faithful in Abia North.

“As we prepare for the 2027 elections, we reaffirm our collective resolve to reward President Tinubu and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s visionary leadership and outstanding service with overwhelming votes and total support,” the communiqué declared.

They also urged the APC at the federal level to reward Ohafia LGA with greater appointments, arguing that the area’s consistent loyalty and contributions to the party must translate into more visibility in governance.

A Rallying Point for Unity

The meeting, which drew leaders from across the LGA, ended with a strong call for party unity. Stakeholders charged members of the APC in Ohafia and beyond to remain steadfast, vigilant, and committed to the ideals of the party.

They maintained that Senator Kalu remains not only a rallying point for the APC in Abia North but also an enduring political force whose presence continues to shape the South-East’s position in the national conversation.

“With Senator Kalu’s visionary leadership and President Tinubu’s transformative governance, Abia North will witness even greater development,” the leaders concluded.
