Senator Orji Kalu Expands Education Support Across Abia North with School Lockers, Learning Materials, Scholarships

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, has intensified his educational support initiatives in Ohafia Local Government Area through the distribution of classroom lockers, STEM textbooks, exercise books, school bags, school uniforms, and scholarship opportunities for students.

The intervention, which is part of the senator’s ongoing commitment to improving education across Abia North, is designed to enhance the learning environment in public schools, ease the financial burden on parents, and encourage academic excellence among pupils and students.

As part of the latest phase of the programme, classroom lockers were distributed to Agbaja Community School, Nkporo; Amuri Community Primary School, Nkporo; Kpoke Primary School, Ebem Ohafia; Community Primary School, Isiugwu Ohafia; Amuma Ohafia Primary School; and Okon Central School, Okon-Aku Ohafia.

Several other schools also received educational materials, including STEM textbooks, exercise books, school bags, and school uniforms. Beneficiary schools include Elu Community Primary School; Ibina Community Primary School, Ihenta Ohafia; Isiugwu Community Primary School; Ofali-Agwu Primary School, Amaekpu Ohafia; Ama-Etiti Primary School, Asaga Ohafia; Isiugwu Ohafia Comprehensive Secondary School; and Ndi Uduma Awoke Ohafia Community Primary School.

In addition to the distribution of learning materials, students within the area continue to benefit from scholarship opportunities facilitated by the senator as part of efforts to expand access to quality education and support academically gifted but financially disadvantaged learners.

The distribution exercise is expected to continue across more schools in Ohafia Local Government Area before extending to the remaining local government areas in Abia North Senatorial District.

Beyond the current intervention, Senator Kalu has over the years facilitated the construction and renovation of schools in different parts of Abia State while also donating more than 3,000 reading desks to schools across Abia North, underscoring his long-standing investment in educational infrastructure.

The sustained interventions reflect Senator Kalu’s commitment to human capital development and his conviction that quality education remains a critical foundation for sustainable growth, youth empowerment, and national development.
