President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm birthday wishes to his longtime friend and political ally, Orji Uzor Kalu, praising his enduring contributions to national development and public service.
In a message commemorating the former Abia State governor’s birthday on April 21, 2026, President Tinubu described Senator Kalu as a resilient leader whose commitment to the growth of both his state and the nation remains commendable.
Kalu, who governed Abia State from 1999 to 2007, currently represents Abia North Senatorial District in the National Assembly. During his tenure in the Senate, he served as Chief Whip and now chairs the Senate Committee on the Southeast Development Commission (SEDC), a regional body established to drive infrastructure and economic advancement across the Southeast.
The President noted that the creation of the SEDC forms part of his administration’s broader efforts to accelerate regional development and ensure balanced growth nationwide, highlighting Kalu’s leadership role in the initiative.
“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s vision, resilience, industry, and service to the nation, as well as his commitment to the progress of Abia, are noteworthy,” President Tinubu said.
Beyond politics, the President also acknowledged Kalu’s influence in the private sector, particularly as Chairman of SLOK Holding, noting that his contributions as a media entrepreneur continue to support Nigeria’s economic landscape.
President Tinubu concluded his message by wishing the former governor long life, greater strength, and increased wisdom as he continues to serve the nation.
