The Asa Liberation Movement (ALM) has rejected the purported adoption of Chief Sam Nworgu as its candidate for the 2027 Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency election, insisting that its preferred candidate remains Engr. Adinigwe Ugochukwu Nwoke.
The Movement, in a statement signed by its President, Hon. Emeka Adiele, and Secretary, Uju Ihunanyachukwu, described the purported adoption as unauthorised, alleging that it was carried out by suspended members acting outside the organisation’s recognised decision-making process.

ALM maintained that Nwoke’s selection followed its established consultation and decision-making procedures, adding that no individual or group of suspended members had the authority to overturn the decision unilaterally.

The group also questioned the claim that the purported adoption represented its collective position, alleging that the endorsement was financially induced.
It urged members of the public, political stakeholders and its supporters to disregard contrary claims and rely on what it described as the Movement’s official position on its preferred candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
“Our decision stands. Our position remains unchanged,” the statement said, reiterating Nwoke’s status as the Movement’s preferred candidate.

The development highlights a dispute over the representation of ALM’s position ahead of the 2027 general election in the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency.
However, the statement did not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the purported adoption or include a response from Chief Sam Nworgu or the members accused of acting outside the Movement’s recognised process.
