Leaders and stakeholders of the Labour Party in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State have pledged to mobilise massive support for the party’s Abia North senatorial candidate, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The commitment was made on Sunday, August 30, 2026, during a strategic party meeting held in Umuasua, where 288 party leaders, stakeholders, political appointees, ward leaders, polling-unit leaders and other members gathered to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure ahead of the elections.
The meeting featured a renewed declaration of support for Bourdex, with the Isuikwuato leadership expressing confidence in its grassroots network to mobilise voters and deliver a strong performance for the Labour Party in the senatorial contest.
Speaking at the meeting, the Leader of the Isuikwuato LGA Labour Party, Kenneth Ahia, SAN, described the party’s mobilisation strategy for the 2027 elections as “Operation Win Your Polling Unit.”
Ahia charged party leaders and members to take responsibility for their respective polling units and work towards securing victory for the party’s candidates.
He expressed confidence that Isuikwuato would deliver an overwhelming 4/4 victory for the Labour Party, placing Bourdex among the candidates expected to benefit from the mobilisation.
The declaration is expected to provide additional grassroots momentum for Bourdex as the Labour Party intensifies its preparations for the Abia North senatorial race.
Beyond the Senate contest, the stakeholders also reaffirmed their support for the party’s candidates in other positions, including Governor Alex Chioma Otti for governor, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah for the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency and Hon. Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson for the Isuikwuato State Constituency.
‘No Vote Should Be Lost’
The member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency, Hon. Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, also urged party members to intensify their grassroots mobilisation, insisting that “no vote should be lost” in the 2027 elections.
He called on ward and polling-unit leaders to demonstrate the political strength of Isuikwuato by working collectively to deliver substantial votes for the Labour Party.
Also speaking on behalf of political appointees from the local government, the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Dr. Salome Obiukwu, called for sustained grassroots mobilisation and urged members not to allow distractions to affect the party’s preparations.
Obiukwu also advised voters against allowing temporary inducements to determine their electoral choices, particularly the distribution of food items and other materials during elections.
She urged the electorate to consider the long-term interests of the people when making their choices at the polls.
The stakeholders further expressed support for Governor Otti’s administration, commending what they described as development projects and reforms across the state.
With the party’s Isuikwuato structure now focusing on a coordinated polling-unit strategy, the meeting signalled an effort by Labour Party leaders to consolidate their grassroots base ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party leadership said its immediate objective was to mobilise voters across the local government and secure victory for Bourdex and other Labour Party candidates.
