The Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Anambra State Branch has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senators Victor Umeh, Dr.Tony Nwoye and the National Assembly for their patriotic wisdom shown in the inclusion and approval of $3 billion for the revitalization of the Eastern Rail Line.
This follows CLO Anambra’s earlier condemnation of the initial exclusion of the Eastern Rail Line from the budget proposal. The organization had called for justice, equity, equality, and inclusiveness in national infrastructure planning.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Awka and endorsed by Evangelist Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme AMBP-UN, Chairman, and Comrade Chidi Mbah, Secretary, CLO praised the doggedness and patriotism of Senators Victor Umeh and Dr. Tony Nwoye for raising the exclusion of the Eastern corridor during the 2025 budget debate.
CLO equally thanked the President of the Senate for ensuring justice on a long-standing demand of the Southeast, and the National Assembly for the unanimous approval of the laudable project.
The statement, themed “Justice could only be served when the unaffected are as outraged as those affected”, described the approval as “oneness, patriotism, empathy ,unity and love in action.”
“This action has given the people of the Southeast a true sense of belonging. It is a clear indication that the future is not only bright, but will be better for all Nigerians,” the statement read.
CLO Anambra prayed for the quick commencement of the project and its completion within record time to unlock economic growth, improve connectivity, and strengthen national unity.
CLO equally appeal to Federal Government and National Assembly to extend such good gesture to dilapidated and decripit Onitsha -Owerri, Nnewi -Uga-Okigwe roads.
