Civil Liberties Organization CLO Anambra State Branch has condemned and decried with great disdain high political tensions, character assassination, unsubstantiated allegations and counter allegations by some of the candidates and their supporters against their opponents and imaginary opponents which is very unhealthy and it threatens peace, our democracy and democratic culture.
Recall that during the lifting of campaigns by Independent National Electoral Commission CLO calls for issues based campaigns, but unfortunately campaign of calumny, insults, threats and intimidations has become the order of the day.

Politics is a noble profession for noble people towards advancement of common good, interest and socioeconomic wellbeing of citizens.
This is contained in a press statement issued to newsmen in Awka Anambra State themed”Intolerance is a threat to democracy and democratic governance” endorsed by Evangelist Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme AMBP-UN, Comrades Chidi Mbah and Stanley Okoro called on Anambra political gladiators to give peace a chance and plays the game according to the rules.
It is pertinent for political leaders to call themselves and supporters to order to toe the part of civility, decorum, mutual respect and dignity of human persons while canvassing for votes.
We equally appeal to our ebullient and diligence CP Abioye Orutugu to convene meeting with the candidates and stakeholders to direct them the best way to conducts their campaigns in order to douse political tensions and to ensure peaceful governorship election on November 8th 2025.
Be it as it may, let candidates and their political parties sells their achievements and manifestos to the electorates, insulting or casting unsubstantiated aspersions on opponents never translates into political gain. Anyone insulting your opponents to get favour from you, will as well insults you if your opponents give him better offers.
Anambra State is more than ever before desirous of politics of morality, integrity, forthrightness devoid of bitterness, acrimony and rancour.
CLO equally pray for peaceful, credible and generally acceptable Anambra 2025 gubernatorial election devoid of electoral manipulations or monetary inducements CLO posited.
