The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) Anambra State Branch has extended its warmest congratulations to His Excellency, Professor Charles Soludo, on his inauguration for a second term as the Executive Governor of Anambra State.
CLO, while wishing the governor for successful tenure, prayed that God grants him the wisdom, grace, good health and political will to continue serving the people of Anambra State with dedication and excellence.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Awka, Anambra State, by Evangelist Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, Chairman, and Comrade Chidi Mbah, Secretary, the CLO commended Governor Soludo’s transformative and reformative servant leadership.
CLO also appreciates the governor for his commitment to serving God and humanity, adding that they are optimistic that his second term will be marked by even greater achievements.
The full statement reads:
“CLO commends the governorship candidates of various political parties for demonstrating patriotism, maturity, and simplicity by not challenging the outcome of last year’s governorship election in court. This gesture underscores the importance of putting the interest of the state above personal interests.
“As Governor Soludo embarks on his second term, we appeal to him to ensure an inclusive government that represents the diverse interests of the people. We urge him to prioritize the improvement of the state’s security architecture and address the pressing needs of the people.
“Specifically, we appeal to Governor Soludo to:
- Complete and rehabilitate the dilapidated Bida, Creek, and Venn North and South roads in Onitsha South LG
- Democratize towns and markets leadership currently governed by Caretaker Committees
- Consider building shops at Nwangele Lake near Creek Road to accommodate traders affected by the recent demolition of illegal structures at Main Market Onitsha.
“We are particularly concerned about the plagiest situation of traders affected by the demolition, with reports indicating that five traders have lost their lives and many of the children of the affected traders are now out of school.
“In this regard, we plead with Governor Soludo to show mercy, love, and empathy to these affected traders, as these virtues are more fruitful and rewarding than strict justice.
“We appeal to His Excellency,Mr.Governor to pay on the spot assessments visit to ongoing road construction at Magazine -Housing Gate-3-3, Nkwelle,Y Junction road to call the contractors to order as the width of the road is below acceptable standard.
“Most importantly to hold training and retraining of staff of government agencies and parasatals especially SASA, ARTMA, ASWAMA to inculcates discipline, patriotism, honestly, respect for dignity of human persons and morality in them, while exercising their constitutional responsibilities.
“The CLO is committed to working with Governor Soludo to ensure that the people of Anambra State receive the best possible governance. We are confident that his second term will be marked by significant progress and development.
