The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), Anambra State Branch, has called on Christians across Nigeria to reflect the true essence of Easter by embracing love, forgiveness, empathy, and selfless sacrifice.
In its 2026 Easter message released in Awka, the organization extended warm greetings to Christians worldwide while emphasizing the spiritual significance of the season.
The statement, jointly endorsed by Chairman Vincent Ezekwueme and Secretary Chidi Mbah, urged believers to emulate the sacrificial life of Jesus Christ by demonstrating compassion and care toward others.
Highlighting the importance of sacrifice in the Easter story, the group noted that the significance of Good Friday and Easter Sunday serves as a reminder of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice for humanity.
> “He died for us — without Good Friday, there would be no Easter Sunday,” the statement read.
The CLO further urged Christians to reciprocate this sacrifice by showing genuine love to both God and humanity through their actions.
“We must forgive one another as Christ forgave those who crucified Him,” the organization stated, calling on Nigerians to use the Easter period to promote peace, unity, and an end to violence across the country.
The group also condemned ongoing violence and paid tribute to victims, including those killed in Plateau State during recent attacks on Palm Sunday. It offered prayers for grieving families, urging them to find strength and solace in this solemn season.
Reiterating its message, the organization stressed that Easter should be a time for deep reflection and intentional acts of kindness, forgiveness, and love among all Nigerians.
