BREAKING: Omo-Agege Dumps APC After Losing Delta Central Senate Primary

Former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress days after losing the Delta Central APC Senate primary election.

The former senator representing Delta Central announced his resignation in a letter personally signed and dated May 22, 2026, stating that his political future and the interests of his constituents would be better pursued outside the ruling party.

In the letter, Omo-Agege declared that his resignation from the APC takes immediate effect.

According to him, recent developments within the party in Delta State prompted consultations with his political associates and supporters, after which he concluded that remaining in the APC would no longer serve his political aspirations or the interests of the people he represents.

“I hereby resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress, effective immediately,” the letter read in part.

The former Deputy Senate President further stated that he would not remain “a sitting duck” in a political party where he could no longer advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria as a whole.

Omo-Agege, who served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, expressed gratitude to the APC for the opportunity to serve in one of the country’s highest legislative offices.

He also requested that his name be removed from all party membership records, registers, and communication platforms.

Despite leaving the APC, the former lawmaker maintained that his focus remains on delivering development and effective representation for the people of Delta Central and Delta State.

His resignation is expected to spark fresh political conversations in Delta State ahead of the 2027 political realignments, especially following the outcome of the APC Senate primary in Delta Central.
