COSEYL Urges Other Abia North Senatorial Candidates to Support Orji Kalu’s Re-Election Bid

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), the apex socio-political youth organization in the South-East geopolitical zone, has called on prospective senatorial candidates and political stakeholders in Abia North Senatorial District to rally behind Senator Orji Uzor Kalu ahead of the next senatorial election, citing his developmental achievements and effective representation of the district.

In a statement issued by its President General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, the group said its appeal followed a careful assessment of Senator Kalu’s performance since assuming office as the representative of Abia North in the Senate.

According to COSEYL, Senator Kalu has distinguished himself through what it described as transformational leadership, resulting in significant infrastructural development, educational support programmes, youth empowerment initiatives, economic interventions, and constituency projects across the district.

The organization noted that leadership should be evaluated based on tangible results, stressing that Kalu’s tenure has brought visible improvements to communities across Abia North.

“Through his visionary leadership, communities across the senatorial district have witnessed unprecedented development. From the construction and rehabilitation of roads to extensive empowerment programmes for youths and women, Senator Kalu has consistently demonstrated commitment to the welfare and progress of the people,” the statement read.

COSEYL further highlighted the senator’s investments in education, including school renovations, scholarship programmes, and the distribution of educational materials to schools across the district. The group described the recent distribution of school bags, textbooks, exercise books, and uniforms as evidence of Kalu’s belief in education as a foundation for sustainable development.

The youth organization maintained that many communities that had previously experienced limited government intervention have benefited from strategic projects and programmes under Kalu’s representation.

It argued that the progress recorded in Abia North would be best sustained through continuity in leadership, urging other senatorial aspirants across political parties to objectively assess the senator’s achievements and consider supporting his re-election.

“This is not a call motivated by partisan politics, but one inspired by performance, development, and the desire to consolidate on the gains already achieved. Elections should be about the welfare of the people, and where a leader has demonstrated exceptional capacity and commitment, such leadership deserves broad support,” the group stated.

COSEYL added that the people of Abia North deserve continued progress, accelerated development, and effective representation, insisting that Senator Kalu possesses the experience, capacity, influence, and commitment required to sustain the pace of development across the district.

The organization reaffirmed its commitment to promoting good governance, accountable leadership, and sustainable development throughout the South-East, while emphasizing the importance of supporting leaders with proven records of service and performance.
