Community leaders, political stakeholders and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State have thrown their weight behind the re-election bid of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, following his ward-to-ward tour of the area.
The endorsements came as the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District visited Lomara, Obinolu Obiagu, Amorie and Leru, where residents, community leaders, women and youths turned out in large numbers to receive him.
Among those who expressed support for Kalu were prominent Umunneochi businessman, Chief Etomchukwu Uba, popularly known as Akuchinyeremba Isuochi; Mr Dike Olekamma; Eze Aloysius, President-General of Lomara; the Vice President-General of Amorie; and the APC House of Assembly candidate for Umunneochi State Constituency, Hon. Uche Stanley Ebere.

Speaking during the tour, Chief Etomchukwu Uba reminded residents of the road constructed in their community during Kalu’s tenure as Governor of Abia State.
Uba recalled the senator’s longstanding relationship with the people, saying the road project remained one of the reasons residents continued to remember his contributions to the area.
He called for Kalu’s re-election, maintaining that his continued engagement with Umunneochi communities demonstrated his interest in their development.
At Leru Ward, Mr Dike Olekamma reiterated his support for Kalu and joined other stakeholders in backing his return to the Senate.
The APC House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Uche Stanley Ebere, who hails from Leru Ward, called on residents to give Kalu bloc votes in the 2027 general election.

Ebere, who accompanied Kalu throughout the ward-to-ward tour, urged party members and supporters to remain united as preparations for the election gathered momentum.
He maintained that Kalu deserved continued support, citing his representation of Abia North and regular engagement with communities across the district.
At Lomara Ward, the President-General, Eze Aloysius, joined other community leaders in receiving Kalu and expressing support for his re-election.

Similarly, stakeholders at Amorie Ward, including the community’s Vice President-General, participated in the reception and pledged their support.
The tour also took Kalu to Obinolu Obiagu in Lomara Ward, where he interacted with community leaders, elders, women and youths.
Addressing residents during the engagements, Kalu thanked them for their warm reception and assured them that he would continue to work for the development of their communities.
He promised to do more for the people, particularly in attracting projects and supporting initiatives that would improve their living conditions.
The former Abia State Governor said his relationship with the people of Umunneochi went beyond elections, adding that their concerns would continue to receive his attention.

He also encouraged residents to remain peaceful and united while participating actively in the development of their communities.
Following the day’s activities, prominent businessman and Leru indigene, Chief Larry Onuegbu of Larryben Motors, hosted Kalu and his entourage at his residence.
The gathering brought together party leaders, community stakeholders and supporters who had participated in the day’s tour.
Kalu expressed appreciation to Onuegbu for his hospitality and thanked the stakeholders and party leaders who accompanied him during the engagements.
