Residents of Ntighauzor community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State have expressed deep concern over the worsening condition of the Ntighauzor South Health Centre, calling on the government and relevant authorities to urgently intervene.
The health facility, located near the popular Orie Ntighauzor Market, is reportedly facing serious environmental and infrastructural challenges that residents say are affecting access to healthcare services in the area.
According to community members, the main entrance to the health centre has been overtaken by overgrown grasses and weeds, making it difficult for patients, visitors, and healthcare personnel to access the facility through the designated route.

As a result of the situation, health workers have reportedly been compelled to improvise by using an alternative access road linking the health centre to the nearby court premises.
Residents lamented that the poor state of the facility reflects years of neglect and poses challenges to the delivery of quality healthcare services to members of the community.
They urged the Abia State Government and relevant agencies to immediately clear the overgrown surroundings and rehabilitate the health centre to restore its functionality and improve healthcare delivery in the area.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, some community sources described the situation as unacceptable, stressing that residents deserve access to a clean, safe, and properly maintained healthcare facility.
The residents further appealed for swift government action to address the challenges facing the health centre and ensure that both patients and healthcare workers can operate in a conducive environment.

Sources who spoke to our correspondent also noted that the Abia State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Chief Peter Azubuike, hails from the community, expressing hope that influential stakeholders would lend their voices to efforts aimed at attracting government attention to the plight of the health facility.
The residents maintained that prompt intervention would not only improve healthcare access but also enhance the well-being of people living in Ntighauzor and neighbouring communities.
