Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage, 45, revealed on the American podcast ‘Lip Service’ that she is open to entering a polygamous marriage as a second wife, citing limited options among eligible single men in their 50s or those already married.
She stressed the importance of respecting the first wife and maintaining harmony, while denying infidelity allegations from her 2018 divorce from Tunji ‘TeeBillz’ Balogun.
The comments have fueled online discussions on gender dynamics, aging, and marriage expectations in Nigeria.
On X (formerly Twitter) a user opined that while some women said that Marriage is not an achievement, but the reality is it’s indeed an achievement.
“Some women will say; “Marriage is not an Achievement”.
“Just pray your Mr Right comes in your early 20s
“You see the way Tiwa Savage is willing to be somebody’s 2nd wife, reality will humble you when you get to 30 to 36yrs, with all the money you have, yet no man wants to be.
Another user tweeted: “She once said she could only settle for a man who has a private jet, but now she’s willing to be a second wife to a married man.
“After they have passed their prime and lost value in the dating market and no man wants them, they become willing to drop their standards.
“The game might be brutal, but it’s still fair.
Another user opined that men are really the prize after acquiring everything in life as a woman.
“Men are the prize💯
“Women who go around saying “marriage is not an achievement” will face reality in their mid-30s when there’s no one beside them and no man to call them “my wife”.
“No job or amount of money can bring a woman the kind of fulfillment that comes from being.
