COSEYL Endorses Sen Kalu, Hails Him as Best Lawmaker Since 1999, APC’s Strongest Asset

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), the apex sociopolitical youth organization in the South East geopolitical zone, has reaffirmed its unflinching support for the Senator representing Abia North, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, describing him as the “best performing senator since the return of democracy in 1999” and a central figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s quest for dominance in the region.

In a strongly worded press statement signed by the President General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Okey Nwaoru on Tuesday, COSEYL condemned what it termed “unwarranted and politically-motivated attacks” against the former governor of Abia State.

The group maintained that the persistent criticisms are nothing more than desperate attempts to discredit a proven leader whose popularity and influence have continued to grow within the APC and across the South East.

According to the coalition, Senator Kalu has emerged as a transformative leader whose style of representation has set a new standard in Abia North. They praised his numerous constituency projects, ranging from road rehabilitation, electrification, and water supply projects to youth empowerment programs, scholarship schemes, and healthcare interventions.

“Senator Kalu is a transformative leader whose recent contributions have significantly elevated the standard of governance in Abia North. His dedication to public service, development initiatives, and unwavering commitment to the APC have positioned him as a beacon of hope for our people,” the statement noted.

COSEYL emphasized that Kalu’s ability to combine legislative duties with grassroots development has made him a household name in Abia North. They recalled that since assuming office as senator in 2019, he has delivered projects across all five local government areas of the zone, touching communities that had been neglected for years.

The Face of APC in Abia State

The coalition further argued that Senator Kalu has become the face of the APC in Abia State, crediting him with strengthening the party’s structure and expanding its grassroots support base. His leadership, they said, has placed the APC in a strategic position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“It is no surprise that under his leadership, we confidently predict an overwhelming 95 percent support for the APC in the forthcoming elections. Senator Kalu’s accomplishments reflect the core values of the APC, inspiring trust and confidence in the party’s mission and vision for a prosperous future,” COSEYL added.

The group also noted that the synergy between Senator Kalu and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is key to sustaining national unity and driving inclusive development. They expressed optimism that Abia North voters will reward both leaders with massive support in 2027.

Best Since 1999

COSEYL proudly declared Senator Kalu as the best performing senator to have represented Abia North since Nigeria’s return to democratic governance in 1999. They credited his track record of quality representation, legislative excellence, and direct empowerment of constituents as unparalleled.

“His passion for service, accessibility to the people, and unwavering dedication to the progress of our zone has set a new benchmark for leadership. The attacks we see today are merely desperate attempts to undermine a proven leader, but they will not deter Senator Kalu from his commitment to serving his people and advancing the ideals of the APC,” the youth leaders stated.

With regards the 2027 general elections, the coalition expressed absolute confidence in Senator Kalu’s re-election bid, stressing that the people of Abia North were already mobilized to ensure his victory.

“We at COSEYL affirm that 2027 is a done deal. The good people of Abia North are ready to show their appreciation for the dynamic performance of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. Together, we will secure a resounding victory for the APC and continue our journey towards progress,” the group declared.

They urged youths and citizens of the region to remain steadfast and united behind Kalu, whom they described as “a tested, trusted, and results-oriented leader whose continuity in the Senate guarantees more development for Abia North and more strength for APC.”

Orji Uzor Kalu, a former two-term governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the 9th Senate, has long been regarded as one of the most influential political figures in the South East. Since joining the Senate in 2019, he has consistently defended the interests of his constituency, championed national unity, and backed policies of the APC-led government.

As one of the foremost leaders of the APC in the South East, Kalu’s political structure remains a critical factor in the party’s growth in the region. His 2027 bid is widely seen as a rallying point for the APC’s consolidation of power in Abia State.
