The Chairman Senate Committee on Southeast Development Commission, SEDC, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu earlier today received Reno Omokri who is an ambassador designate appointed by President Tinubu and approved by the 10th Senate in Aso Villa residence Abuja.
During the visit, Kalu was seen in a video which he shared through his Facebook page advising Reno to stop speaking against the Igbo race, because they’re egalitarian, ubiquitous, versatile and are most importantly the salt of the nation.
Kalu while speaking told Reno that right inside his village in Delta State, Igbos from different states and dialects could be found.
The former Governor of Abia State, admonished that Reno being a very kind and very good friend of his should preach about what will bring unity, while emulating and imbibing the traits of President Tinubu who make friends across tribal boundaries
”Don’t attack the Igbos again. They are your friends, we are the salt of this nation and we are friendly to every tribe. If you go to your village in Delta State, Igbos are living there. Whether they are Igbos of Delta or Igbos of Onitsha, Igbere, Abia or Imo, they’re living there in your village. You’re my friend, a very good friend of mine. You people should build the togetherness of the nation. Behave like President Tinubu who built friends across the nation.” Kalu said
Kalu laid emphasis on the importance of being a loyal party man who respects leaders of the party.
”Maintain that party affiliation, you’re an ambassador of Nigeria, respect the party chairman, because if he is the state chairman in Delta, he can equally be a state chairman in Abia. I am a party man and I respect the party.” Kalu stressed
Kalu thanked Reno for working for President Tinubu which gained him the current appointment, while praying for Reno to excel in his new portfolio that Nigerians and his State will be proud of his exploits, while telling him to desist from attacking the Igbos.
”I congratulate you once again and God will lead you to be a very good ambassador, that Delta State and Nigerian people will be proud of you. You’re a very kind man, I want to thank you for all the jobs you have done for our president. The only thing I am against is when you speak against the Igbos. You know I am an Igbo man, however, a Nigerian from the southeast.” Kalu opined
”So, let your language now be Nigeria. I congratulate you once again for being passed by the Senate. You’re a nice guy, continue doing well.” Kalu asserted
Responding to Kalu’s advice, Reno said he has known Kalu way back in his university days in University of Maiduguri. Reno acknowledged that Kalu is a man who believes so much in one Nigeria, who is dead to ethnicity, tribalism and religion, which many Nigerians are not aware of.
”Permit me to take two minutes of your time. A lot of people will not realize the level of respect I have for His Excellency, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, because if you look at his life, going back to his days in University of Maiduguri. This is a man that believes in Nigeria, a very proud Nigerian man. He is dead to ethnicity, tribalism and religion. A lot of people don’t know about these things.” Reno remarked.
