The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, on Monday, August 17, 2026, held the maiden meeting with some members of his yet-to-be-inaugurated Campaign Council as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, which was held as part of the preparations for the commencement of the campaign, was aimed at acquainting members of the campaign team with the task ahead and setting the tone for an organised and issue-driven campaign.

Addressing members of the council, Dr. Anyaso thanked them for accepting to be part of the project and expressed confidence that the team would secure victory at the polls.
“I want to first of all thank you for accepting to be part of this project, and we are sure that victory will be ours. This project is very divine, and I had it very clear. I know that the will of God will come to pass,” he said.
Anyaso said his primary motivation was not merely to win an election but to contribute to the development of Bende and change the perception of young people about politics.
“I am more interested in fixing Bende so that our young people don’t see politics as a means of livelihood, but they should understand that this is service,” he stated.

The Labour Party candidate also attributed his popularity across Abia State to his extensive grassroots engagement, noting that having toured the 184 wards in Abia State, he was confident that reaching the 13 wards in Bende Federal Constituency would not be difficult.

“My popularity was as a result of the fact that I have toured the entire 184 wards in Abia. If we can do 184 wards in Abia, 13 wards is not going to be difficult,” he said.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Campaign Council, Pastor Dike Okechukwu, urged members of the campaign team to remain committed, honest and dedicated to the political project.

Pastor Okechukwu encouraged members to work collectively and maintain confidence in the vision of the campaign, stressing the importance of integrity and commitment as the campaign progresses.
In their separate responses, Chief Nkem Kalu, Chief Mrs. Stella Okorie, Mr. Fidelis Ochiobi and Chief Ihendu Eke appreciated Dr. Anyaso for finding them worthy to be part of the campaign process, expressing their commitment to the project aimed at ushering in what they described as a new chapter for Bende.

The meeting also featured the presentation of vehicles to key members of the campaign team.
During the vote of thanks, Dr. Anyaso presented vehicles to the Director of Media and Publicity, Hon. Promise Uzoma Okoro, and the Director of Women Mobilisation, Chief Mrs. Stella Okorie , explaining that the gesture was intended to facilitate their responsibilities and make their work more effective.
He urged the campaign directors to deploy the resources provided to them effectively in achieving the objectives of the campaign.
