ASMATA Hails LP Over Rancour-free, Fair, Credible Primaries; Assures Of Voting LP Flag Bearers In 2027

The leadership of the Abia State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA) has described the list of Abia State Labour Party LP candidates for the 2027 polls as not only qualitative and in-depth but also populated by persons with rich political and moral trajectories.

This is as they lauded the LP National and state leadership for the peaceful conduct of primaries at all levels in Abia State and across the country.

In a formal resolution reached at the end of its emergency meeting on Monday, June 1, 2026, to evaluate the performance of the LP executives in the state and read by its President-General Chief Alphonsus Udeigbo, ASMATA congratulated Governor Alex Otti and all other LP candidates for the 2027 elections on their well-deserved victories at the primaries.

The ASMATA particularly appreciated the LP leadership, members and supporters of the party for exhibiting a high sense of patriotism in choosing as candidates individuals with proven track records, high moral grounds, and a genuine sense of commitment to the total reclamation and repositioning of Abia State.

The umbrella body of Abia State traders expressed the optimism that, going by the high quality and proven integrity of the candidates, from the governorship to the National and State Assemblies, Abia is assured of being in safe hands post-2027 general elections.

“On behalf of Abia traders and members of the business community, we want to appreciate the leadership of the Labour Party at the state and national levels for the successful conduct of free, fair and credible primaries in Abia State and Nigeria as a whole.

“Abia traders are particularly grateful for the party’s re-nomination of His Excellency Governor Alex Otti and great sons and daughters of Abia State to fly its flags in 2027.

“There is no doubt that the preferences made by the LP leadership are in tandem with the hopes and aspirations of the overwhelming majority of Abians, who are eagerly waiting to equally overwhelmingly return their high-performing governor and the understanding members of the state House of Assembly, as well as hard-working members of the National Assembly in 2027.

“Abia traders are particularly overjoyed by the huge prospect of having these great sons and daughters continue to collaborate in the great task of delivering tangible and measurable dividends of democracy to Abians for the next four years.

“Abia traders and members of the business community also wish to congratulate the party on the conduct of rancour-free and successful primaries.

“At a time that most political parties in the country are reeling from some debilitating and life-threatening post-primaries crises, it is heartwarming to note that the LP not only remains insulated but is waxing stronger.” ASMATA leadership stated

The ASMATA reaffirmed the unflinching commitment and unalloyed loyalty of traders to the course of total liberation and reengineering of the state.

ASMATA, similarly, assured that Abia traders are more than ready to complement the efforts of the LP in maintaining the current purposeful and transformational leadership in the state by voting massively for the candidates come 2027.

“The Labour Party, having done its own part of selecting committed, focused, and trustworthy Abians as candidates, is now left to the traders and well-meaning people of the state to complete the job by overwhelmingly voting in the candidates in the general elections proper.

“And it is a task we must accomplish in the interest of unborn generations of the state,” the traders’ umbrella body assured.
