The political atmosphere in Ohafia Local Government Area is currently experiencing a tidal wave of momentum, following a highly successful and historic gathering of political heavyweights, traditional leaders, and grassroots mobilizers in the ancient kingdom of Abiriba.

What was initially conceived as a routine Special Iriama Meeting of the Labour Party (LP) and the Abia Arise family swiftly transformed into a spectacular demonstration of political unity, solidarity, and strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Hosted at the residence of the esteemed Labour Party Leader in Abiriba, Chief Ebueme Ezikpe, the event drew an overwhelming crowd, signaling a powerful consensus among the people to chart a united course for the future of Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area, Abia North Senatorial District, and Abia State at large.

The sheer volume and caliber of attendees underscored the critical nature of the gathering. The meeting witnessed the convergence of traditional rulers, revered community elders, party executives, government appointees, Abia Arise coordinators, ward chairmen, and vibrant women and youth leaders. Furthermore, the presence of invited stakeholders from the broader Ohafia region highlighted the expanding influence of the Labour Party within the senatorial zone.

Addressing the massive crowd, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, MFR, OON, the Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Abia North, expressed profound gratitude to Chief Ezikpe for his unwavering commitment to the party’s growth and his continuous support for the transformational administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.

“I express my profound appreciation to Chief Ebueme Ezikpe for once again placing his home at the service of our people. His quiet but tireless commitment to strengthening the Labour Party continues to inspire us all,” Chief Bourdex remarked.

As the 2027 general elections slowly appear on the political horizon, the central theme of the Abiriba gathering was unmistakable: absolute unity and intentional grassroots organization.

Speaker after speaker at the event echoed a synchronized message, emphasizing that discipline and mass mobilization must serve as the foundational pillars of the party’s upcoming campaigns. The stakeholders reached a firm, collective consensus that only a united Labour Party, backed by a unified Abiriba kingdom, can deliver the overwhelming electoral mandate required to secure a well-deserved second term for Governor Alex Otti.

Additionally, the stakeholders vowed to ensure a sweeping victory for every Labour Party candidate across the ballot, aiming to solidify the administrative gains already being witnessed across the state.

A major highlight of the meeting was the overwhelming outpouring of goodwill towards Chief David Bourdex, following the confidence reposed in him by the state’s party leadership and stakeholders across Abia North to fly the Labour Party’s Senatorial flag.

Humbled by the massive support, Chief Bourdex addressed the crowd with a passionate reminder of the task ahead. He noted that the senatorial ticket transcends any single individual, describing it as a massive honor bestowed upon Abiriba and the entirety of Ohafia Local Government.

“It is a sacred trust that demands unity, sacrifice, hard work, and massive electoral participation,” Bourdex declared. “We all agreed that this confidence must be repaid with an overwhelming victory at the polls.”

Political analysts have frequently noted that no electoral victory is complete without the backing of the youth demographic. This reality was fully on display at the Abiriba meeting, where the active participation, enthusiasm, and readiness of the younger generation injected an electric energy into the gathering.

Chief Bourdex highlighted this synergy, noting, “When our experienced elders and energetic youths pull in the same direction, victory becomes not merely possible but inevitable.”

In a poetic conclusion to the historic meeting, the deep commitment of the attendees was tested by nature. As the gathering drew to a close, heavy rains that had been threatening all afternoon finally poured down. However, in a remarkable display of shared purpose and camaraderie, the crowd refused to disperse. Attendees remained comfortably under the canopies, exchanging ideas, sharing laughter, and celebrating their renewed political vigor. It was a clear testament that the people’s enthusiasm could not be dampened by the weather.

Leaving the meeting, the mandate for the Abia North Labour Party faithful was set in stone. Chief Bourdex laid out a definitive blueprint for the coming months, charging every supporter to take the campaign to the grassroots level.

“Abiriba is ready. Ready to organize. Ready to mobilize. Ready to speak with one voice,” Bourdex charged the crowd. “Our assignment is now clear. Every home must become a mobilization centre. Every village must become an organizing hub. Every polling unit must be fully prepared.”

With the momentum steadily building and unity growing across the wards, the Labour Party in Ohafia Local Government appears poised to write a glorious new chapter in the political history of Abia State. As the stakeholders dispersed, the unified message remained clear: Abia North is locking its doors for the Labour Party, and the journey to 2027 has officially begun.
