Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, has continued his education intervention programme with the distribution of learning materials to primary and secondary schools in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State.
The exercise, carried out on the senator’s behalf by his Legislative Assistant for Isuikwuato LGA, Barr. Max Nwokenta, saw pupils and students in beneficiary schools receive school bags, textbooks and exercise books aimed at improving teaching and learning.
According to the senator, the initiative forms part of his sustained efforts to strengthen the education sector across Abia North through the provision of educational support and improved learning infrastructure.
Senator Kalu also reiterated that no local government area within the Abia North Senatorial District would be excluded from the intervention programme, adding that more schools are scheduled to benefit in the coming weeks.
Schools visited during the distribution included Umuobiala Community Model Primary School, Eluama Community Primary School, Eluama Secondary School, Amaibo Community Secondary Technical School, Umunnekwu Agbo Community Secondary School, Central Oguduasa Secondary School, International Secondary School, Abia State University, Uturu, and Uturu Secondary School, Uturu.
The senator’s education support programme has also included the renovation of school facilities across Isuikwuato and other communities in Abia North, alongside the provision of scholarships and other educational interventions.
Speaking during the exercise, principals, head teachers and members of staff of the beneficiary schools commended Senator Kalu for what they described as his consistent investment in the education sector.
They said the distribution of learning materials came at a crucial time and would enhance teaching and learning in their schools. They also offered prayers for the senator, expressing hope that he would continue to support educational development in the district.
Senator Kalu has, over the years, undertaken various education-focused projects across Abia North, including school renovations, scholarship awards and the provision of instructional materials.
The ongoing distribution programme is expected to extend to more schools across the remaining communities in the senatorial district as part of efforts to improve access to quality education.
