Former Abia State Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has congratulated Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd) on his reappointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Senator Kalu described Marwa’s renewed five-year tenure as a well-deserved vote of confidence, noting that the retired military officer has demonstrated rare courage, discipline, and patriotism in Nigeria’s war against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
In a statement issued on Friday, the senator commended Marwa for transforming the NDLEA into one of the country’s most effective law-enforcement institutions, crediting him with historic drug seizures, thousands of arrests, and the scaling up of public advocacy campaigns across the federation.
“General Marwa’s reappointment is a testament to his exceptional performance and commitment to safeguarding our nation from the dangers of illicit drugs,” Kalu said.
“His leadership has revived confidence in our collective ability to protect young Nigerians from the devastating effects of drug abuse. I am confident that the next five years will consolidate the remarkable progress already achieved.”
Senator Kalu further applauded President Tinubu for prioritizing competence and continuity, stressing that Marwa’s experience in public administration and security management makes him an invaluable asset to the ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s drug-control architecture.
He urged the NDLEA boss to remain steadfast and continue deploying his expertise, integrity, and strategic vision toward building a drug-free Nigeria.
“On behalf of my constituents and well-meaning Nigerians, I congratulate General Marwa and wish him success as he continues this noble national assignment,” Senator Kalu added.
