In a political atmosphere where the future of Abia State is dominating public discourse, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex (MFR, OON) has captured the attention of the state with a resounding call for a socio-economic revolution.

Speaking during the highly anticipated second edition of the Bourdex Hour radio program, the visionary leader and the Abia North Labour Party Senatorial candidate laid out a comprehensive blueprint for what he fiercely champions as the “New Abia North.”

Taking listeners on an intellectual and emotional journey, Chief Bourdex shifted the political conversation from short-term electoral promises to long-term generational wealth. He challenged leaders and citizens alike with a profound question: “What kind of Abia North do we want to leave our children?”

Setting the tone for the broadcast, Bourdex reminded the people of Abia North that every generation is merely a caretaker of the land. He painted a vivid picture of the current reality, questioning a system that forces the region’s brightest minds to believe that success can only be found by buying a bus ticket out of their hometowns.

“We inherited Abia North from those who came before us, and one day we shall hand it over to those who come after us. The real question is this: will they inherit something better than we received?” he asked.

According to Bourdex, a society that continuously exports its best brains cannot expect to grow stronger. His vision for the New Abia North is one where the youth travel to explore and gain experience, but always return home to a thriving economy that rewards hard work and values innovation.

While acknowledging the vital importance of physical infrastructure like roads, bridges, and hospitals, Chief Bourdex boldly declared that a society’s greatest asset is its human capital. He warned against the current educational model, advocating for a radical shift.

“We must move beyond producing certificate holders. We must produce problem solvers,” Bourdex emphasized. He noted that education without opportunity breeds frustration, whereas education combined with enterprise creates prosperity.

His vision calls for an ecosystem where young people in Abiriba, Ohafia, Arochukwu, Bende, Isuikwuato, and Umunneochi have access to the tools, mentorship, and financing needed to turn their brilliant ideas into successful enterprises.

Addressing the rich agricultural potential of Abia State, Bourdex struck a chord with farmers and business owners. He pointed out the tragic irony of communities celebrating harvests while outsiders reap the real financial profits through processing.

“Agriculture is not the end of the journey; it is the beginning. Agriculture is where wealth starts. Industry is where wealth multiplies,” he explained.

Detailing his economic strategy, Bourdex envisioned a New Abia North where locally grown cassava is processed into starch and ethanol, palm fruit into cosmetics, and cashew nuts are packaged and exported directly from the region.

By transitioning from mere farming to agribusiness, he argued, thousands of jobs will be created in logistics, packaging, marketing, and engineering, transforming the rural economy into a bustling industrial hub.

To prove that this vision is highly realizable, Chief Bourdex drew from his wealth of personal experience as a pioneer of private enterprise. He recounted the establishment of Bourdex Telecommunications, the first privately owned telecom company in the former Eastern region as a testament to what happens when the government creates an enabling environment.

“Government does not create prosperity; people do. The responsibility of the government is to create the conditions under which prosperity becomes possible,” he asserted.

He lauded the current administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti (OFR) for actively working to provide this exact enabling environment through improved security, infrastructural development, and predictable policies. Bourdex noted that when visionary public policy meets determined private enterprise, ordinary people achieve extraordinary things.

As the program drew to a close, Chief Bourdex delivered a powerful final charge to the people of Abia North. He reminded them that the future is not something that is passively discovered, but rather deliberately built, one decision at a time.

“Do we want them to inherit excuses or opportunities? Division or unity? Dependency or enterprise?” he challenged the listeners.

Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex has clearly drawn the battle lines against poverty, stagnation, and capital flight in Abia North. His Bourdex Hour interview has not only whetted the appetite of the electorate but has also set a new, high standard for political discourse in the state.

For the people of Abia North, the message is clear: the blueprint for prosperity is ready. The only thing left is the collective will to build it.
